Just very nice touches all round. From calling to check if all was ok to leaving some items for us in the fridge. Great location and just a lovely place all round. It was just a shame we were on such a tight schedule.

A cottage with all modern comforts and yet the feeling that you are staying on an old Scottish farm. The garden is beautiful and the area surrounding the Scottish Borders is beautiful. A must! St. Abb’s Head is an hour’s drive away, but is well worth a visit.

Beautiful location, beautiful property and wonderful hosts :)

Very peaceful location with great views of the valley. Beautiful garden and cottage well kept and maintained.

Stayed 5 nights at Gateshaw Cottage and loved every minute. The cottage is very clean and comfortable and feels more like a home than holiday accommodation. The garden is brilliant for couples and families with the best tree house that I've seen. We loved the rural setting and spent a lot of time sitting in the summerhouse watching the birds and wildlife. Although in the countryside, it is only a 15-minute drive to Kelso or Jedburgh. Would love to return one day.

Beautiful and Relaxing. Property was exceptional both inside and out. Garden is a hive of activity for wildlife and the kids loved exploring the garden and surrounding areas House itself is beautiful and hosts were exceptional in their support.

Peaceful yet not too remote. Stunning tranquil location yet only 15 min drive to Kelso. Morebattle even closer which has a well stocked community store and a bar restaurant. Cottage is homely yet contemporary with great bath, showers, comfortable beds, modern kitchen and beautiful private garden with decking area to enjoy the countryside views. Garden also has a BBQ, a fun tree house and a summer house from which you can enjoy the scenery from different aspects. No hesitation in recommending Gateshaw Cottage and would happily return.

Everything about Janes cottage is just perfect. It has everything you need for a very comfortable stay, the boys tuck boxes & our welcome pack were so thoughtful. Communication with Jane was brilliant, we felt well looked after & knew if we had a problem we could easily get hold of her. The views to wake up to are stunning as was the garden, treehouse & location. We won’t hesitate to go back!

We really loved our stay at Gateshaw cottage which is so comfortable, beautifully decorated and had everything we needed and wanted - we were lucky to have the weather to use the bbq and firepit in the garden which was perfect. And the location is amazing - so peaceful and beautiful with some great walks and cycles from the door and an easy 30min walk into Morebattle for dinner one night. Jane was so helpful when we were booking and throughout our stay. I don’t think there is anything we would have change about our stay or the cottage!

Fantastic cottage. Country style but very modern and warm. The owners have provided you with every tool to help your enjoyment, from binoculars to bird food. They also provide a few goodies on arrival. The garden is a delight. Gateshaw cottage is in a beautiful part of Scotland, in the fringes of the Cheviot Hills and about 400m from St Cuthbert's Way. In fact, you can see the highest point of St Cuthbert's Way from the kitchen!

Exactly what the doctor ordered... We’ve returned to Gateshaw Cottage now probably 5 or 6 times and after the stress of the past year it seemed like the only place to escape to. There are 2 reasons for visiting Gateshaw: firstly the peace, tranquility and energy in this place is unmatched. There is something truly magical in the way it forces you to switch off. The view from the beautiful garden, the sound of the birds and the stream and general tranquility allow you to fully relax and recharge. Secondly it’s the attention to detail to be found inside the cottage. The owners have really understood what is important to the modern, discerning traveller. The welcome pack is thoughtful and relevant, the bedding is hotel standard and the toiletries luxurious. Combine this with fast WiFi, usb chargers, modern appliances, high quality bathrooms you realise they have thought of everything. We can’t wait to go back in winter and use the log burner. Thanks for a much needed rest.

One of the most beautiful accommodations we have had as a family so far. The location is a bit out of the way, but this is rewarded with plenty of peace and great scenery. We have found a good location here to explore the area. The house itself is large and lovingly decorated, comfortable beds with beautiful views of the Borders, two modern bathrooms, a large, modern kitchen that invites you to cook and a living room with log burner in addition to the normal heating. Our children especially liked the large garden, which also has a tree house. In the garden we could watch birds and squirrels.

A beautifully appointed cottage in a lovely location and with a stunning view from the garden over to the hills. The Wilsons are excellent hosts and provided food for our supper due to a late arrival which was most welcome. As were the classy free toiletries. These kind of touches make all the difference to a holiday.

Just spent a very nice weekend at Gateshaw while exhibiting our business in Kelso.
The house has a very nice, clean and well maintained feel about it which helps you relax and enjoy the excellent provisions provided and the beautifully scenic location Gateshaw is set in. We would highly recommend Gateshaw and hope to visit again

Have been fortunate to have a couple of long weekends at Gateshaw Cottage and hope to have many more.
The cottage is beautifully appointed and furnished. Elegant but really comfy and cosy with wood burner in the lounge. Everything has been thought of here; a really high end kitchen diner and gorgeous bathrooms. Bedrooms are equally well decorated in a traditional but contemporary style with incredibly comfy beds. The garden is also stunning with amazing views out to the hills and a summer/garden house perfect for relaxing with a gin and tonic.
It's in a wonderfully quiet spot yet Morebattle village and pub is in walking distance and Kelso town about 15 minutes drive away. Kelso has a nice range of shops, pubs and a great little micro brewery. A wonderful retreat that I highly recommend. Perfect.
